Given the need to fill the universe with consciousness, there might seem to be a duty to produce as many offspring as possible but this would be to ignore the complex needs of adults and children. It would evidently be foolish to advocate an unlimited expansion of population. Built into Nature is a very powerful reproductive drive. There would seem to be few worries that the supply of new beings will run dry. Under these circumstances the clearly loving course is to allow adults to make their own decisions as to when to conceive. Since sex can be a highly positive expression of inter-personal love there can surely be no argument against the right to make use of contraceptives. BACK
