If Alphoma is inevitable, does this not mean that determinism is true?
In a very broad sense, the universe is determined. We know that the process works out because we exist. The outcome is guaranteed, and it is not in the least surprising that very many people have a sense of inevitability.
But this does not have to imply that the system is mechanistic. The circular nature of things resolves the paradox because crucial to the circle is the operation of free will. It is, in fact, the combined will-power of conscious beings which is the force that guarantees the inevitability.
